In 2018 I wrote and produced an audio history of KQRS highlighting this legendary rock station celebrating its 50th anniversary. As Program Director, I wanted it to be unique – an ideal pairing to the rich legacy of KQ’s archived sound.
I approached Dan Rather; an iconic voice instantly identifiable to KQ’s largely baby boom audience. Dan covered the democratic national convention in 1968 when KQRS launched, and anchored the CBS News Evening news in the 80’s. This audio was submitted to the National Association of Broadcasters for a Marconi Award in the category of Legendary Station.
