The backdrop of our “KISS Kids” contest featured legendary KISS frontman Gene Simmons and original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley performing together for the first time in 16 years at The Children Matter Benefit Concert at CHS Field in St. Paul. Joining Ace and Gene for the concert was former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick.

The reunion between Gene and Ace that day brought in media outlets from all over the world to cover both the benefit concert and the interview at our KQRS studios.

Leading up to the benefit concert, we used the power of radio and social media to put out a call to action for parents to submit videos of their kids singing the KISS classic “Rock and Roll All Night” for a chance to perform the song on-stage with Gene Simmons. Sometimes the best way to reach parents is creating clever promotions that showcase their kids.

Our team had complete coverage starting with an exclusive hour-long interview on our morning show, followed by a press conference at the station.

The night concluded with our “KISS Kids” winners joining Gene on stage for the finale of “Rock and Roll All Night.”
